Week 9 Full Time

Hello, all.

I hope you are doing well. This week, I had a great week. I would rate this week a 5! This week was a tough one outside of school because I was spending lots of time preparing for the end of the year things!
I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get my video for my portfolio presentation finished. I am going to use my knowledge gained from observing other teachers next week to help me with close reading strategies. My short-term goal is to present my portfolio so that I can start my new job! I could have spent more time lesson planning, but I used my time to complete portfolio pieces. I was apprehensive to hand down a punishment to a student, but after I handed out the punishment, the student corrected her behavior, and we were able to come to a solution together. Next week I can make sure all my materials are together.

This week, I was able to analyze math small group data in order to plan for next weeks math small groups.

Standard 1: I showed leadership in my classroom by advocating for my students by going to vote this week!
Standard 2: I called a parent to let them know their child got sick at school and needed to come home.
Standard 3: We worked on our people skills this week during morning meeting.
Standard 4: Students were asked to critically think about how to make new polygons from their own power polygons.
Standard 5: I reflected on student math data in order to form new groups and help students attain standard mastery.

  • I have completed all parts of my portfolio. My clinical educator and I do not need any assistance at this time.

Week 8 Full Time

This week was a 4.5 out of 5. I was able to obtain my final checks during my 5th observation, and I know that now I am one step closer to attaining my goals. This week, I posed a purposeful share question to my students. "If you could, what would you change about our school?" My students had great answers with great reasons, so next week I will build upon this by revisiting it during morning meeting. My short term goal is to get everything together for my portfolio and video taken care of. My long term goal is graduation! I could have spent more time on Monday and Tuesday doing lesson plans. I was apprehensive during testing, so I was not sure of what my role was in that. Luckily, I was able to talk to my CE before testing began and she was able to clarify what I was able and not able to do as far as administering the check-in. For next week, I can make sure that I have all of my resources in my Monday through Friday organizer so that I will be able to start next week on the right foot.

We analyzed this weeks math quiz data and math graded papers data in order to make math small groups for next week.

North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards:

Standard 1: I continued to show standard one by keeping my classroom a safe and orderly environment even on Halloween Week!
Standard 2: I had a conference with a student's mom and continued to keep lines of communications open with
Standard 3: During morning meeting, we addressed what we would change about our school which is relevant to students.
Standard 4: I was able to adapt resources for students so that I was meeting the needs of my students.
Standard 5: I analyzed math quiz data and math graded papers data in order to make math small groups for next week.

I have started to link my information in live binder so that I will be able to present my portfolio! I do not need any support at this time, and neither does my CE.
